West Texas Aoudad Hunts
W.T.H.O. Trophy Aoudad Hunts are conducted in the rugged mountains and hills across west Texas. We also offer Aoudad Hunts on the Devils River and properties near there which is slightly milder terrain than our far west Texas options. I am very particular in the properties we Aoudad Hunt on- minimal pressure and quality mature trophy rams. Aoudad Hunt Prices may vary per ranch slightly due to the length of hunt, what is included, how many hunts we do on that ranch and overall costs involved for that ranch. Licenses are over the counter and Nonresidents will need to purchase a Type 157 five (5) Day Special nonresident license which is $48.00. Residents will need to purchase a Type 101 license. We regularly take rams in the 29" to 32" range and each year we do take several larger rams up to 36". A strict number of hunts is offered each year for our West Texas Aoudad Hunts on each property to keep pressure to a minimum and trophy quality plus success rates high. It is recommended to book an Aoudad hunt a minimum of 10 to 12 months in advance. I also offer Ewe hunts in the Spring & Summer months, details are below. Harvest success rates on guided & semi guided hunts average 95% to 98% each season.
Trophy Aoudad Sheep Hunt Season
Most Trophy Aoudad Sheep Hunts will be 3 to 5 days in length. We will hunt Trophy Rams starting in early September and hunt through late March or early April. Deer season may affect availability for several ranches. The main Aoudad rut is typically kicked off in mid September and runs through late October. Parties up to 6 can be accommodated on most properties. Primary tactics for these hunts will be spot & stalking which involves hiking & glassing and some driving and glassing to locate big trophy rams. You need to be in good physical shape for most of these hunts. A few ranches we hunt have better road systems and or milder terrain so I will try to accommodate just about anyone for these hunts. All of the options listed below are Free Range low fence or no fence Fair chase hunts. We do not offer ram hunts later in the Spring or Summer to rest our ranches. Success rates and trophy quality remain the same whether you are our first client of the season or the last.
West Texas Aoudad Hunts FAQs
West Texas Aoudad Hunts are in the desert, expect warm days and cool nights even during winter months. A quality bonded bullet and flat shooting rifle (minimum of .270 or similar) is a must on these Aoudad Hunts. A good pair of binoculars in the 12X to 15x range and if you have a spotting scope bring it along, we will be glassing out to past 1 mile to locate Trophy Rams on the move so we can put a stalk on one. If you are brave enough to try an Aoudad Sheep Hunt with your bow, I would recommend a hunt in the Val Verde County area first. Although we do have Feed & Water sites in place we typically do not hunt over them unless discussed prior. You should be prepared to accurately shoot out to 400 to 450 yards (not always the case) on a rifle Aoudad Sheep Hunt. If you are not able to let me know prior. Some areas are very steep with large cliff faces so if you have an issue with heights let me know before to recommend an appropriate ranch. A good day pack to hold plenty of water and snacks is a must along with medium to hard soled boots well broken in with good tread left. Shin guards are also a good idea for the cactus. A recommended gear list and all of your hunt details will be sent out 4 to 6 weeks before your hunt.

Spring & Summer Ewe Hunts:
Great off season hunt for parties of 2 to 6 hunters.
Offered on properties where we need to manage our numbers.
Length of hunt will be 2.5 to 3.5 days with lodging & meals.
Guide(s) provided to take hunters out, locate animals, assist in stalks but they will not skin and pack out all harvest. This hunt would be ideal for long distance shooting or if your brave enough an Archery Hunt.
1 Guide provided per 2 to 3 hunters for this hunt.
Hunts will involve hiking and some driving and glassing.
These may not be available every year depending on herd numbers.
