West Texas Mule Deer Hunts

West Texas Mule Deer Hunts are conducted in the Trans Pecos and Big Bend regions. Our Texas Mule Deer Hunting Ranches vary greatly in size from a few thousand acres to 400,000+ acres; due to this diversity it allows us to offer Hunts in all price ranges to our clients. Mule Deer population and trophy quality vary from ranch to ranch, and we have priced our Mule Deer Hunts accordingly. Nonresident Mule Deer hunters will need to purchase the Type 105 General Non-Resident Hunting license which is $315.00 over the counter, Resident Mule Deer hunters will need to purchase the Type 101 Resident Hunting license which is over the counter. Several of our Texas Mule Deer Hunting properties offer easy access off of main roads, but more are off the beaten path in remote scenic regions of Texas. West Texas terrain varies from gently rolling hills, to steep canyons, and wide valleys; we also offer large ag fields to hunt over. Mostly though expect rocky terrain filled with plenty of cactus and desert plant life typical of West Texas beauty.

Mule Deer Hunts

West Texas Mule Deer Season starts the Friday after Thanksgiving and runs for roughly 2 weeks long offering 16 days of hunting. Archery season generally runs the entire month of October. Limited hunts are offered on each ranch. Guided, semi guided, occasional self guided and when available season leases are offered. We also have a handful of MLD hunts each season allowing us to target the rut with an extended season. A couple of different options in old Mexico are available also, located across from the Big Bend area that will be similar size deer to our west Texas hunts. I am taking bookings up to 2 years out for Mule deer.

West Texas Mule Deer Hunts FAQs

Mule Deer are hunted in open terrain so be ready to glass longer distances and pick apart the hillsides. Typical shots are 300 yards out to 400 yards in some cases. A minimum of a .270 caliber or similar rifle/pistol/muzzleloader is highly encouraged, along with a good pair of 10X to 12X binoculars for glassing the terrain. Mule Deer hunters are more than welcome to bring their bow out and we can set up a Mule Deer Hunt during archery season over water and feed. Most Guided Mule Deer Hunts will take place driving and glassing the terrain then stalking closer to make the shot. A comfortable pair of boots and a day pack is recommended as we spend most of the day out in the field to cover as much ground as possible. Our Guided Mule Deer Hunts on all ranches combined average 90% +/- success rate and Self-Guided Mule Deer Hunts are around a 70% success rate. 4D North Ranch Mule Deer Hunt

This property may not be available each season and hunts are offered on a very limited basis if so. Lodging & meals included for either option.

This hunt will be more on the physical side and require a fair amount of hiking, glassing, and patience.

Sanderson Ranch Mule Deer

Now booking for the 2027 season.

Hunts will mainly take place out of blinds over water and or feed sources and some spot & stalking. Guided with meals and lodging.

This will be an MLD extended season hunt to target the rut or start of it in late December and early January.

1 Mule Deer Buck any size and 1 Javelina for each paid hunter.

If Seen Whitetail can be added for a Trophy fee if in season and Aoudad. The ranch will be on the MLD program starting the 2026/Early 2027 season.

Fort Stockton Ranch Mule Deer Hunt

Now Booking for the 2027 Archery & General Seasons.

Spot and stalk on foot type hunt plus hunting from vantage points watching water, trails, & feed sites. All hunts include lodging and hearty meals. Camp may be shared with others if booking premium hunt dates. Mature bucks only will be taken. Buck hunts are available for Archery season & general season or DOE ONLY hunts done during the Archery only season. A few combo hunts will be available to include Whitetail, contact for pricing on a combo. Trophy & management hunt options.

Now Booking for the 2027 season. MLD/Extended season for 2027 & later hunts.

Hunts will be done on dates to target the rut primarily.

Bag Limit: 1 Mature Mule Deer Buck (trophy or management) according to our parameters and what you have booked and 1 Javelina.

East Pasture Mule Deer Hunt

Now Booking for the 2027 season.

This will primarily be a guided backpack style hunt in a semi remote area where several of our properties join but are hard to access by roads. Some driving will be done but not much. Regular season hunt.

Only 1 to 2 spots are offered each season. Simple lodging can be arranged onsite or more comfortable lodging offsite on a neighboring property. Meals included.

If available an Aoudad Ram can be added to your hunt for $5,000.

Wells Ranch Mule Deer

This is a smaller ranch but located in the right area and actually borders a large ranch we already hunt. We will only be taking one hunter each season here and we can do it guided or DIY. It will be a combination of glassing from vantage points and hunting near water or feed sources. This property is more patience and letting them come to you rather than hiking and going after them.

5 Day 1x1 Guided Hunt $6,995.00

5 Day DIY $5,495.00

Guided hunt will include lodging & meals. Located near town with easy access off of the pavement so DIY hunters can stay there or camp out onsite. If available this hunt can be paired up with Trophy Aoudad.

West Tx Leases, DIY and Mexico Options

Far West Tx General Season only Mule Deer Leases:

These only become available once in a long while and will require an established responsible group who will supplemental feed heavily year round, keep water sources maintained or improved and help to keep up with predator control and camp maintenance if provided. These are not fill your tag leases and will be true trophy hunts for mature animals for people willing to go home empty handed and let deer mature or improve if necessary.

Mexico Mule Deer Hunts:

Now Booking for Late December 2026 and Early 2027 for Rut Hunts

3 different ranch locations varying in size from 8,500 to 40,000+ acres roughly 2 to 5 hours across the border from Presidio Tx in the states of Chihuahua and Coahuila. All permits provided with rifle rental included at no charge. English speaking guide(s) onsite. Lodging and meals are all included. Expect one day to travel then 3 full days of hunting and the last (5th day) time to wrap up and head back if hunting 1x1 guided. If arrival goes smoothly and early then extra hunt time will be allowed. These will be similar sized deer to the ones we hunt in west Texas and in the same region located across from the Big Bend area and south west of there.

The hunt will take place out of trucks or UTVS's hunting both safari style and some spot and stalking. Cost is a flat fee no matter what your buck scores. On this hunt realistically expect bucks in the 150s to occasional 170s as long as it is not a dry year. These hunts are timed to take place closer to the start of the rut or during which is late December through January.

You will need to have a Passport for this hunt and single hunters are more than welcome to book with a group of 3 to 4 booking being the max as long as we have permits available. Limited spots offered. Each property is similar in quality for the most part so just give me a call or email to see what option is best for you or your hunting party.
